I apologise for the absence of regular updates, but i wanted to make sure we were definitely back on track before starting up again. We finally have builders onsite. Life hasn't totally stood still whilst we have been waiting for the renovations to start. We have been kept fairly busy getting other things ready.
We started by having some of the land cleared, including the pool and fencing being removed as part of our new bedroom and ensuite will be over the this area.
The banks of shrubs and trees were cleared infront and at the back of the house. The difference in light into the house was huge. These will all be replanted once we have finished the renovations.
We had the old stables pulled down (before they fell down). As Annabelle is loving riding ponies whenever she gets the chance we may find ourselves needing to build a new stable one day!
And a nice new shed put up.
As we had a private power pole (no longer allowed) we then had the power upgraded to three phase which meant digging up the drive and garden to get the cables etc from the road to the house.
Once this was all done we were able to arrange for our heating/cooling to be installed. I have to say it was fantastic timing as we were having so many very hot days and had already spent plenty of days at the shopping centres trying to stay cool.
It was heaven to be able to put the air conditioning on and be comfortable indoors whilst the temp gauge was reaching the high 30s and some days even into the 40s.
We had the longest run of days over 30 degrees they had had since the 1960s.
